That, I decided, was the least awkward way I could reach back out to you, my adorable little readers, for the first time in almost a year. Can I explain my hiatus? I suppose I could. Will I? You know what, I might, at some point in the future. But for now, at this moment in time, cue paragraph two.
This newsletter will play a supporting actor role to my newest creative venture: Copas Chez Gabriel. Posted sort of weekly on YouTube, CCG is my show where I assess culture and style, mostly in English, at times in lispy Spanish and occasionally in French, prompting host and audience to experience a benign horniness. Much of what I’ve covered on this page, like stimulating phenomena from my beloved Economist, is the kind of stuff I’m covering over there. As I want my YouTube channel to supersonic blast off this year, I ask that you check it out. I’ve just hit the first key milestone for any small channel (100 subs), and I’m about to crack 20,000 views. If you go so far as to like, subscribe or comment on a vid, or better yet, send it to a friend, I will definitely kiss you on the cheek for it, but our fleeting romantic exchange can go no further. Soft cheeks, though…someone’s…been…moisturising!
As an amuse-bouche for what I cover at length in the newest episode, I’d like to turn your attention to the impeccable style of men in Kingston in the ‘80s. By wearing dressy threads (collared shirts, pleated trousers) in dressed down ways (shirts and belts undone) these guys embody chilled elegance. Pics sourced from a very nice Canadian photographer who got immersed in the reggae scene. Shouts out to Beth! If you seek spring-summer wardrobe inspiración, here’s some ideas for your big head.
